The History of the Valentine Fund

1987. It began with a party and a Portland actor diagnosed with cancer. Unable to work, with a family to support and mounting medical bills - it is a situation familiar to artists and non-artists alike.

But the theatre community is first and foremost a community, and artists united to hold a fundraising party for the actor and his family.

Thus began the Valentine Fund.

Requests for Support

The Valentine Fund has assisted with crises as diverse as the theatre itself: a costume designer whose house burned down, dental surgery for damaged front teeth, and an actor with AIDS who wanted a last quiet weekend with his wife.

The current maximum request for support is $500.

How You Can Help

Your support and donations will allow us to assure that financial assistance is available to members of our theatre community in crisis. If you'd like to make a donation simply mail a check to 1017 SW Morrison St, Ste 315, Portland, OR 97205, ATTN Valentine Fund.
Your donation is tax deductible, and a receipt will be mailed to you.
